Project Goals

Project goals track all of the words you write in all files that are assigned to that project.
It’s a great way to track large tasks like a novel or a blog.
Your projects can only have one active goal at a time. You can have as many projects with goals as you want.
Assigning files with existing word counts into a project won’t count those words toward its goal. Only new words in files that are already assigned to a project will count.
Create a Project Goal
Once you’ve created a writing project, you can set a writing goal for it in two ways.
On the Writing Projects page: click on the “Add Goal” button that’s on the project card:
Or if you’re inside the Project view: click on the “Set new goal” button that’s below your description and next to the cover image:
Both of these options will bring up the Goal setting window where you’ll enter your goal.
Click on the number 0 and enter the number of words you want to write
Click on the date and select your deadline for the goal
The sentence below will update with a daily estimate of what you’ll need to write.
When you’ve entered your words and date you’ll be able to click on the “Set account goal” button to finish creating your goal:
You’re all set!
The buttons you used to create your goal will now switch to tracking mode so you can see your progress:
You can also track all of your goals on the Account Goals page.
Edit a Project Goal
The goal editing process is the same for all of our goals.
For any goal that’s still active you can change the word count and date
deadline. We’ll keep any progress of words you’ve made so far and apply it to your new goal.
Click on the Goal tracking widget in your Project:
This will bring up the goal window where you’ll see your Current goal, and right below it, a space to enter your modified goal:
Remove a Project Goal
You can remove any active goal so that it doesn’t show up in your records. When you remove a goal all progress toward that goal is lost.
To remove a project goal click on the Goal tracking widget in your Project:
This will bring up the goal window where you’ll see your Current goal and an option to remove the goal.
