File Goals

File goals are the most detailed way to track your writing progress as we’ll only count the words you write in this one specific file.
Your file can only have one active goal at a time. You can have as many files with goals as you want.
The process for creating, editing & removing file goals is very similar to project goals, so if you’ve already reviewed that section you’ll know most of the information.
Create a File Goal
Once you’ve created a file, you can set a writing goal for it in two ways.
Or if you’re inside the writing file: hover over the “3-dot” menu on the format bar to open the setting menu and click on “Set file goal”:
Both of these options will bring up the Goal setting window where you’ll enter your goal.
Click on the number 0 and enter the number of words you want to write
Click on the date and select your deadline for the goal
The sentence below will update with a daily estimate of what you’ll need to write.
When you’ve entered your words and date you’ll be able to click on the “Set account goal” button to finish creating your goal:
You’re all set!
On the file’s format bar a new progress bar will appear for your goal.
Hover over the progress bar to see more details or click on it to edit your goal.
You can also track all of your goals on the Account Goals page.
Edit a File Goal
The goal editing process is the same for all of our goals.
For any goal that’s still active you can change the word count and date deadline. We’ll keep any progress of words you’ve made so far and apply it to your new goal.
Click on the Goal’s progress bar in your file’s format bar:
This will bring up the goal window where you’ll see your Current goal, and right below it, a space to enter your modified goal:
Enter your new word count goal and date and click the “Modify Goal” button to save your changes.
Remove a File Goal
You can remove any active goal so that it doesn’t show up in your records. When you remove a goal all progress toward that goal is lost.
To remove a file goal click on the Goal’s progress bar in your file’s format bar:
This will bring up the goal window where you’ll see your Current goal and an option to remove the goal.
