Copy/Paste Detection

The Copy/Paste settings allows you to decide how you want the site to count words you copy/paste into the site.

Please note: this setting only affects the “Words Written today” and not words toward battles. We’ll always count words towards battles. This setting is for deciding if you want copy/pasted words to count toward your daily word count and your writing stats.

To personalize this setting go to your Account Settings page and click on the dropdown:

You have three options for how we’ll count the words you copy/paste:

• Always count (Default): everything you copy/paste in will count toward your words written total

• Never count: nothing you copy/paste in will count toward your words written total

• Ask each time: we’ll ask you if you want to count the words or not

When you select “Ask each time” you’ll see a new icon appear in your Writing File. 

Click on the icon to see how many words we’ve detected you copy/pasted and decide whether you want to add them to your total or not:

• Ignore: won’t count the words to your “words written today” total

• Count: adds the words to your “words written today” total
